Dana Fogel-Stark is well trained in conducting psychotherapy aimed at helping clients achieve more satisfaction and contentment within themselves and in their relationships.
Dana Fogel-Stark practices a directive clinical approach aimed at educating and enhancing her client’s emotional intelligence.  Therapy consists of providing clients with a tool box of coping skills and tools needed to address emotional and relational issues.

Her theoretical approach is an eclectic one, deriving from several psychoanalytic schools of thought specifically Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral therapy provides the client with the necessary tools and more adaptive coping skills necessary to manage their emotional struggles.

The Psychodynamic approach is used to assist clients in gaining insight about the unconscious material that contributes to emotional issues and conflicted interpersonal relationships.  Interpretation is conducted throughout the therapy as it leads the client to be able to understand unconscious motivation for actions, thoughts and emotions.

DBT consists of four critical skills consisting of Distress tolerance, Mindfulness, Emotion regulation skill, and Interpersonal effectiveness.  Research shows that DBT can improve one’s ability to handle distress without losing control or acting destructively.
